Will you watch “Who Wants To Date A Comedian?” (Video)

Back in December of last year, we reported about how a show called Who Wants To Date A Comedian was entering production. Producer Byron Allen, the man behind the long-running chat show Comics Unleashed, unveiled his plans. “Who Wants to Date a Comedian is the next generation of dating shows,” Allen said. “We have access to the world’s funniest comedians, and this concept allows them to showcase their talent to the fullest. This new show is fresh, bold, entertaining, and hysterically funny.”

At that time, we had no idea which comics were going to partake in this spectacle. But now, thanks to the below preview for the show, we know that the likes of Kyle Cease, Greg Hahn, Rebecca Corry, Adam Hunter, Tom Clark, Michael Gelbart and Marianne Sierk will be featured as potential dates for regular folks. When I first heard about this show, I didn’t have much hope. And I’m not saying I think it’s going to be outstanding now, but after watching the preview, it actually looks pretty funny. Why? Because the show is totally crapping on serious dating shows; and they’ve employed professional funny people to do so. I especially like when Cease votes a prospective girlfriend off the show and tells her to “go over to the murder chamber.” Equally as awesome is when Corry demands that the three men courting her at a pool hall spit in each others’ mouths unless they want to be voted off immediately. Where was Corry when I was dating? I’d date the shit out of a girl like that.

Anyway, Who Wants To Date A Comedian? is set to premiere soon, though there’s no airing details yet. Stay tuned. We’ll keep you posted. But when it does premiere, do you think you’ll be tuning in?

nope, won’t be watching. the audio and lighting is horrible, which is quite distracting. actually, it looks like a bad made-for-the-internet mockumentary, not a real show. i guess byron allen decided to hire a bunch of film school students as the crew and only gave them hand-me-down equipment.

it might actually be funny if the comedians didn’t try way too hard to be funny and if mr allen hired a real crew and gave them real equipment. no wait, it would only be funny if byron allen didn’t produce it.

  I work on the show. We are a real crew. with an internet video budget. I dont know why. They expect us to shoot two episodes per day. Most shows shoot one episode per 2 days. And our equipment is not film school hand-me-downs. Its worse. Crew morale gets real low when you personally own better cameras than your company shoots on, and when you spend 18 hours per day shooting in way less than ideal locations (which bogus producers never tech scout). So we gave up busting our asses to hide lights and we dont have time to correctly light a scene. Not to mention our EP ignores every suggestion we give him about the best angles to shoot and when we must hold for audio. He tells us to press on. Dont blame the crew, blame the MAN!

this show is awful. it casts the most dull and over the top comedians. they are not funny at all and try to hard in a vain attempt to be funny. i’m pretty sure the women in this show are hookers or something of the like judging by the fact that the majority of them are WAY out of the league for these “comedians.”

I’d rather watch comedian’s date wacky people then that fake ass bachelor shit. I actually saw an episode of this show, the “sizzle” reel doesn’t do it justice. That music makes me wanna barf by itself.

The show should be titled Who Wants To Date a FUNNY Comedian, of which there are none on this show. Hmm. Finally found something Jimmy Shubert can appear on.
