Australian comedian Jim Jefferies has been embraced by the Stateside comedy scene for years now, having released two groundbreaking hour-long specials as well gaining tons of respect from his fellow comics. The soul-baring and many-times x-rated comic is known as one of the country’s best comedic storytellers. And now, if all goes well, he’ll have yet another home for his twisted sense of humor. FX has OK’d a pilot presentation titled Legit that would star Jefferies as “a misanthrope trying to get legit,” according to Deadline.
The pilot will be produced and directed by Peter O’Fallon, who is no stranger to working with comedians. He produced a handful of episodes of The Riches — also for FX — starring Eddie Izzard. The show, despite its critical acclaim, only lasted two seasons. For FX, this marks yet another edgy comedy project. They’ve found success with Louis C.K.’s Louie which garnered Emmy nominations and is heading into its third season. The network also boasts envelope-pushing comedy shows like Wilfred, the animated Archer (starring H. Jon Benjamin and Aisha Tyler) as well as The League and cult hit It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia.
Each week, you can check out Jefferies co-hosting the podcast Talkin’ Shit with comedian Eddie Ifft.
