Another one of Chelsea Handler’s comedy posse has landed a sweet television deal. Comedian Sarah Colonna, who writes for and appears on Chelsea Lately and co-stars in the show’s companion reality series After Lately, has signed on with NBC to write and executive produce a sitcom based on her upcoming book Life As I Blow It: Tales of Love, Life & Sex…Not Necessarily in that Order.
The show — which will center around her life in the “Midwest surrounded by eccentric friends and family whose opinions and actions know no boundaries,” according to the Hollywood Reporter — would fall in line with this fall’s network hit Whitney starring frequent Chelsea contributor Whitney Cummings and the upcoming Are You There Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea based on Handler’s book of the same name and starring Laura Prepon of That 70’s Show fame. With multiple rude-girl projects in the works, it seems like the network is trying to seem different or more in your face with these shows, mostly because they said as much.
“Part of what we need to do at NBC is to get people to know that we’re doing things different and a little more in-your-face,” the network’s entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt said.
Life As I Blow It: Tales of Love, Life & Sex…Not Necessarily in that Order hits stores and online retailers Feb. 7, 2012.
