I love the explosion of social media and intuitive technology, but one consequential trend really gets my goat. Ever see those videos featuring tweens and teenagers speaking into a webcam about their lives, calling out “haters,” and showing off things they buy? Yeah. Not a high point in citizen media.
Somehow, though, this haul video from Maria Bamford isn’t irritating. The comedian went to Powell’s Books for her birthday – probably the best idea I’ve ever heard, considering their inventory – and she released a video showing what she bought. She has pretty solid taste in books, looks like! Homer’s The Odyssey? Sign me up.
