Transforming the World Through Comedy is a new fundraising endeavor that will team with a different nonprofit organization each year to raise money through live comedy shows. For its inaugural event, TWTC is partnering with Off the Mat, Into the World, a nonprofit that’s “dedicated to bridging yoga and activism.”
TWTC will take place on Nov. 16, and is set to include comedians Judy Gold, Dwayne Kennedy, Marc Maron, Ben Morrison, Russell Peters, Retta, Jeffrey Ross, Bobby Slayton and Pat Tamasulo. The event will actually consist of three shows in three different cities: at the Gotham Comedy Club in New York, the Improv in Hollywood, and Zanies in Chicago. So it’s kind of like the comedy version of Live Aid (or maybe Live 8, for you young people who don’t know what Live Aid was).
If you’re unlucky enough to not live in one of those three major cities from which so much of show business comes, fret not; the shows also will be streamed live on TWTComedy.com. If on the other hand you would like to attend one of these shows live, tickets are available at TWTComedy.com or Laughstub.com. Why wouldn’t you go? The tickets are only $35, you’ll be supporting a good cause and you don’t have to do any yoga.
