The Alamo Drafthouse Cinema is infamous for its no-nonsense talking or texting policy; if you are on your phone or being a disturbance in one of their theaters, you will be kicked out, no questions asked. The Drafthouse’s policy was made known outside their theater areas after posting a sort of Public Service Announcement containing a voicemail of an upset woman complaining after being kicked out of the theater.
Comedian and actor Patton Oswalt, with the help of director Jason Reitman, decided to parody the viral hit while in Austin on the promotion trail for their new film Young Adult. Oswalt and Reitman are not the first Hollywood stars to contribute to the Drafthouse’s PSA series, but they are first to involve the viral hit. Oswalt recites word for word the absurd voice mail from the video because he probably realized, there was not much that needed to be added to that rant to make it any funnier. Check out the video below, and be sure to listen to the original voice mail right after. Enjoy!
