It’s no secret that I absolutely love everything Louis C.K. does. He could sit onstage and tell me why I suck for two hours and I’d still think he was brilliant. Hell, I even wrote a 30 page paper about Louie for a graduate school seminar last year. Long story short, dude’s a genius, even if he’d never admit it.
But enough ass-kissing. There’s some super news for Louis C.K. fans nationwide: the comic will be headlining the 68th Radio and TV Congressional Correspondents’ Dinner on June 8 in DC. It’s not quite the White House Correspondents Dinner, where Stephen Colbert infamously roasted President Bush back in 2006 (Jimmy Kimmel will be hosting next year’s in April), but you can bet C.K. won’t be holding back this coming June. And President Barack Obama is expected to attend.
“We’re very excited about having Louis C.K. at the dinner,” said Jay McMichael of CNN, head of the RTCA’s executive committee. “This is an evening you’ll want to experience. We’re shaking things up, showcasing the unexpected, and delivering lots of laughs.”
Louis doesn’t usually do much overt political commentary in his acts – at least, not in the same vein as George Carlin or Jon Stewart – so it’ll be super interesting to see what he comes up with. Past featured speakers include Jon Hodgman, Don Imus and comedian Joe Wong.
Here’s hoping Louis tells us more about Jazanthapuss.
