If you’re like us, you thought there would be no new installments of Drunk History, the web series created by Derek Waters, who last posted an episode to Funny or Die almost two years ago. But Waters has something to teach us all about hope. And that is that we should have some.

Just in time for the holidays, Drunk History returns with its version of the immortal Christmas poem, “A Visit from St. Nicholas,” aka “The Night Before Christmas.” This time around, our inebriated narrator is the UCB’s Allan McLeod (Arts & Athletics, A Kiss from Daddy), doing his drinky-best to remember and say the words to the holiday classic. Ryan Gosling, Eva Mendes (they’re doing it in real life, allegedly) and Jim Carrey (hiding under a Santa suit) breathe life into McLeod’s slurred, booze-soaked attempt to tell the story.

Some of you are saying, “But Laughspin, a reading of ‘The Night Before Christmas’ isn’t technically history.” Shut up. Who cares? If you complain, they might not make any more! Also, it’s hilarious, and that’s what matters to us here.

You guys! New “Drunk History”! It’s a Christmas miracle!
