The GOP Presidential Primaries have been filled with entertaining moments (the rise and fall of Cain, Rick Perry’s ‘Oops’ and the fact that Ron Paul still stands a chance). More frequent than embarrassing live moments and odd campaign ads have been a slew of GOP debates. If you can stand one, it was announced Thursday that Yahoo! and Funny Or Die will team up Friday morning to present a mock GOP debate.
Larry King, who has made his own attempts at stand-up comedy, will host the event. The faux debate boasts a hilarious cast of stand-ups and comedic actors (and one heavyweight champion). The cast includes Saturday Night Live alum Horatio Sanz as Newt Gingrich, Twitter powerhouse Rob Delaney as Mitt Romney (his chest hair will play the role of Romney’s well-quaffed hair), and John C. McGinley (Scrubs) as Rick Santorum.
Also at the podiums will be Gov. Rick Perry (Patrick Warburton), Ron Paul (Will & Grace‘s Leslie Jordan), and Mitt Romney Part Deux, Jon Huntsman (Ally McBeal‘s Greg Germann). Erin Gibson, who became famous for her portrayal of Michelle Bachmann on FunnyOrDie (see video below), will perform the same role on the live broadcast. Former heavyweight champion and Hangover scene-stealer Mike Tyson will play Herman Cain.
The comedy world has been given so many gifts during this election season already. Surely, this mock debate will take all of our favorite Republican moments and satirize them collectively for an amazing Friday morning. The live event will air at 8 am ET on Yahoo! News and will be available for viewing on their Yahoo! Screen video site.
