Every day we get a little bit closer to the reality of another fantastic, cancelled-too-soon television show making its return on the big screen. Arrested Development, anyone? Fans of the two short seasons of Party Down were excited to hear that a movie was being planned, bringing everyone’s favorite cater waiters back for some more fun. Season two actress Megan Mullally recently addressed reporters at the Television Critics Association winter press tour promoting her appearance in Breaking In and gave a little more information about the shows return.
“I will be doing the Party Down movie,” she said, reports the Hollywood Reporter. “John [Enbom] is writing it right now.”
Mullally continued to give reporters information about the Party Down return including the fact that most of the cast is coming back, though Mullally is not sure if Jane Lynch will be returning. She also believes that the story will pick up where the second season finale left off, with Henry taking a chance and going to an audition while the other continue on at another catering job.
“I think we’re going to see Lydia’s ex-husband — Ed i think is his name — who was really racist and a misogynist,” Mullally said of her character’s possible story in the film outing.
Mullally says filming will take place in the late spring or early summer allowing audiences to get another assuredly funny story and conclusion for the Party Down cast of characters sooner rather than later. Thankfully the writers and producers are not toying with our emotions for many years (I’m looking at you Arrested Development) and are holding true to their promise of a film barring any changes from the current plan and schedule. I, for one, can’t wait for its return and wish it was for more than just one movie.
