It looks like all of Dwight Schrute’s persistence of the highly annoying kind may have paid off. The character The Office co-star Rainn Wilson plays may very well become the centerpiece of a new show, to bow on NBC next year, Deadline reports.
“I hear that NBC is working on an Office spinoff starring Rainn Wilson for a potential midseason 2013 launch, Nellie Andreeva writes. “No deals have been closed yet but I’ve learned that the proposed spinoff is a family comedy, which was the brainchild of Wilson and The Office executive producer/showrunner Paul Lieberstein. It will have Dwight (Wilson) living at the Schrute family beet farm and bed & breakfast, which have been featured on the show several times.”
If the spinoff does come to fruition, the concept will be setup in an episode of The Office later this year. “At its base it will be about a family farm struggling to survive and a family trying to stay together,” Andreeva writes.
Time will tell if Wilson scores his own show. For now, let’s check out a video tour of Schrute Farm, as given by Andy (Ed Helms). And tell us: Would watch this show?
