America’s favorite ultra-hipster homage to Portland, Portlandia, has inspired some of the best, weirdest lines in recent memory, from “Shell art is OVER!” to “Put a bird on it!” And I’d be lying if I said I didn’t annoy my friends by asking, “Did you read? Did you read? Did you read?” (See video below for further explanation).
And now, get this: the show’s off-the-wall writing will be transitioning from the small screen back to the written form. Grand Central Publishing plans to release a book on Nov. 20 based on the hilarity of the show, entitled PORTLANDIA: A Guide for Visitors. You too will be able to find a restaurant that prepares locally-sourced food alongside – I hope – prime locations for Dumpster diving.
Even if you don’t have plans to visit Portland in the near future, think of the book as a supplement to the TV show. Says Ben Greenberg, Executive Editor, “Fred Armisen, Carrie Brownstein, Bill Oakley and Jon Krisel have created such a unique, surreal world in Portlandia, and the book will allow fans to explore that world even further.”
Hooray!
