Ricky Gervais has confirmed that Karl Pilkington, reluctant star of An Idiot Abroad on the Science channel, has committed to a spinoff entitled The Short Way Round, though it surely took some convincing. Gervais announced that Pilkington will be joined on this new adventure by Warwick Davis, star of Life’s Too Short. The new program will feature Pilkington and Davis on bike riding adventure together throughout different countries.

“I can persuade him,” Gervais said. “I try lots of things and eventually I can see he’s interested with something I’ve said and I work on that… He’s finally signed a contract for The Short Way Round, cycling round the world with a dwarf in his basket.”

Gervais also confirmed there will be a second season of Life’s Too Short for the BBC with Davis in the spring of 2013. The first season is currently airing on HBO in the States. A second season of An Idiot Abroad has already been filmed.
