Following up its successful Feb. 26 launch during the 84th annual Academy Awards, the second-ever TweetRoast will go down Sunday, April 1– fittingly on April Fool’s Day. The target this time: the Academy of Country Music Awards, airing live from Las Vegas starting at 8 pm EST.
Comedians Jay Mohr, Lizz Winstead, Juston McKinney, Jonathan Katz and Annie Lederman are all confirmed to participate; many others will be announced in the coming days. Thirty-three comedians slung jokes during the first TweetRoast, which drew viewers from all 50 states and 50 different countries.
During the CBS broadcast, comedy fans should point their browsers to TweetRoast.com, where they’ll see a constantly-updated feed of comments (completely uncensored, of course) from the digital dais. And as was the case the first time around, you can make your own snarky, biting (maybe mean?) contributions by using the hashtag #tweetroast.
TweetRoast was co-created by Jim Serpico, President of Motion Pictures and Television at Apostle and Paul Fireman, President of Fireman Creative. Apostle actually produced the first two Comedy Central Roasts, which have become one of the network’s consistently highest rated recurring piece of special programming.
