Comedian Amy Schumer responds to Steve-O calling her a ‘no-name slut’ (Exclusive)

Even though it happened in September of last year, our story concerning Amy Schumer’s joke about Steve-O during the Comedy Central Roast of Charlie Sheen is still always one of the most-viewed pages on Laughspin. And it looks as though, the story won’t die any time soon.

First, some background. During the roast, Schumer told the following joke, in reference to Jackass stars Steve-O (who was on the dais) and Ryan Dunn, who died in a drunk driving accident: “I truly am — no joke — sorry for the loss of your friend Ryan Dunn. I know you must have been thinking it could’ve been me. And I know we were all thinking, Why wasn’t it?”

The joke was clearly about Steve-O (not Dunn), but many took offense to it simply because of the mention of Dunn. Others, rallied behind Schumer. And the day after, Schumer told us there was no need to apologize– after all, it was a roast. And she was joking. Steve-O had remained fairly quiet about the whole thing. But this morning Steve-O guested on The Big J Show at KRSQ Hot 101.9 went off on Schumer– six months later. “Hey everybody, it was a roast, you know, where people say mean things to each other on purpose. That silly little whore was just doing her job,” he said. Ok, nothing terrible. Fair enough. But then Steve-O let’s it fly.

“When I got to rehab the first thing I learned was the importance of forgiveness. And I forgive Comedy Central for letting that no-name slut on the show in the first place. I have zero respect for that slut, but I’m not mad at her for telling a joke. Tell all the jokes you want, it’s a roast, but don’t be a two-faced slut.”

You can listen to part of Steve-O’s appearance below.

So, I asked Schumer what she thought about Steve-O’s comments from this morning. “He seemed upset and as though he felt I had been hypocritical,” she tells Laughspin. “I did ask that his fans stop with the threats of ending my life. But I did not apologize for telling that joke. I don’t see the hypocrisy. I’d like to continue being a comic and alive. Nothing two-faced about that. But I absolutely, from the bottom of my heart, continue to not give a shit about this. I wish him the best luck in his comedy career.”

“Those jokes were killer,” she said, referencing his jokes from the radio appearance.

she did what a lot of attention seeking comedians do after a tragedy, there’s always somebody who feels they should be the ones to say the joke first sooner rather than later for shock and awe, amy did it and any negative feedback she gets, she deserves, steve-o has a right to be angry with her, roast or not there’s no need to bring up the recently deceased unless you’re a selfish attention whore, it’s never a funny joke, that’s why the crowd will always respond with ooohs and awes, she made her mark and now her show’s on comedy central, AKA the Jewish Entertainment Channel

  • woolncathairs

To me, neither one is funny. Like Dane Cook un-funny. It’s actually painful to watch Amy Schumer doing her bit because nothing that comes out of her mouth is remotely funny.

  • Adam

His comments seem really gender-oriented, therefore sexist. Steve-O is an idiot without a working brain cell and Schumer is an actually talented comedian. It was a roast and the joke was about Steve-O. Why the fuck was he there if he couldn’t take the jokes?

  • well shit

    2 years later shes famous

  • DelsinRowe

Steve-O is a talentless junkie. He wishes he had half the talent of Amy.

  • buffalo

This woman’s whole gig is like the shock jock thing. No wit, nothing clever and she doesn’t know where to stop because she’s not really trying to be funny, she’s trying to be outrageous and pander for the nervous laughter. She also seems completely clueless about where civility and taste might lead one to apologize for making a nasty thoughtless “joke” and can only react with a defensive and nasty retort.

  • david w

Nobody gave a shit about Ryan “Well” Dunne and nobody give a shit about dope head Steve O.

  • WadeCollins

How long does it take to realize that 99 percent of female comedians aren’t fucking funny.

  • CVBEATs

he wasn’t even directly calling her a slut like they said, he was joking about what he wanted to tweet. she is two-faced and that was a bitchy joke, she was trying to make headlines because shes a noname comedian with almost no talent

  • WhyTheTruth!

Well Steve O. She has a show on comedy central now. However…id rather watch the Kroll show. But hey she finished fourth the great show last comic standing. Truth is she is getting attention because of geslnik and her cup size.

  • Chandi

Shes not a no name. She has talent & she can be pretty funny. Stevo is known for being a jackass … literally. It was a roast, its all about insults. I agree the ryan dunn joke was very harsh and in my opinion, inappropriate. She just doesnt know that “too soon” really does mean too soon. I got to admit when she made the joke it did make me cringe a little. But she doesn’t deseve any death threats.

    • Jake

Back when this happened…she was a no name

      • Cody

Still is a no-name to me. Just another future failed show on “comedy”

  • Goolie

Amy is hilarious. Steve-O is not funny. He was never funny, not even during his prime.

  • Party

Her joke was funny as shit Steve quit being a bitch if u can’t joke about death u don’t deserve to be alive

  • http://twitter.com/mk Michael Kovacs

I didn’t even realize that Steve-O considered himself a comedian at all. The “jokes” that he told, especially the not funny one that he allegedly “withheld” about Amy and Anthony, were as boring and predictable as they come. It’s like watching a 3rd grader work, and watch as he sat there admiring his brilliance whilst he puked up the dead and lifeless punchlines. To the guys in the studio, please tell me you were laughing at him to be polite. Steve-O is like a modern day, illiterate Chevy Chase, and even he was funny for like 4 movies.

Was her joke a bit tasteless? Absolutely. But she is right. It’s painful to watch Steve-O anywhere on camera. Can we please put him and Snooki to bed already? With all due respect to Michael Bolton, what did we do to deserve these no talent ass clowns?

  • julie

i agree with what he said! i think she’s disgusting

    • NCBrian

why? have you never seen a roast before? they all knew what was expected.

  • Jenna

Look, I really enjoy Amy, She’s a comic, and its their jobs to rag on people. Do I think the Ryan Dunn Joke was overboard? Yes. But it doesn’t condone death threats or calling her a “whore”
And I LOVE Steve-O, I grew up on Jackass, and Wildboyz and all the other spin offs. But I do think that the “slut” remarks were very tactless. On the other hand, This is STEVE-O. Who are we to expect anything but crude humor from him? If you don’t like it, thats your own opinion. But don’t say hateful things about people you don’t personally know. It’s a childish reaction to an old feud.

  • slaap

He’s just mad cause she won’t fuck him on camera

  • CorvusCorone

The horrible reality is that Steve-O is a horrible stand up comic. If you want to go to a cheap show, come out to Iowa City; he’s here all the time because he thinks college towns are his wheel house. But every show that he does is always half off or more on Groupon or Living Social because no one would pay full price to see him. He’s just not very good.

Amy Shumer is not a great comic. She’s young; she might get better. But at least you can tell she’s a comic. With Steve-O, it’s like watching a NASCAR race for the accidents. You know they are coming.

  • Anti WJB

What a sad sac Steve is. He is obviously making up stuff if not outright lying. just like his drinking, Steve should get over it.

    • Dejesus

The only thing you demonstrate with this post is a complete lack of understanding of the complexities and extremes of addiction. He was doing a LOT more than just drinking and he sure as hell had to do a lot more than simply choose to “get over it.”

      • kyle

true, but in the end, the only cure is to “just get over it.

  • JClark2115

I thought everything was going great. But that joke, along with her, were just not funny. I can understand it’s a roast, but there’s a fine line between being funny, and just being offensive. “Too Soon” comes to mind.

    • NCBrian

      as does “too sensitive”

it was a joke – i wouldn’t have made it, but nobody’s inviting me to do comedy shows either.

i thought she was hilarious… that “fine line between being funny and just being offensive” is imaginary nonsense.

The original joke about Steve-O was funny. I laughed like hell.  Steve-O is a talentless, unfunny waste of airtime with the mental capacity of a developmentally-challenged nine year old. As if his “career” wasn’t evidence enough of this, these comments he made about Schumer confirm it. Can’t come up with anything more inventive or witty than “slut” or “whore?” Such a comic genius. (That’s sarcasm, folks. I point this out because I have the feeling that most Steve-O fans wouldn’t be quite astute enough to recognize it, much less grasp the concept.)

    • NCBrian

yeah…pretty terrible. i also thought he was the weak link in that particular roast. but then again, that was a pretty spectacular lineup and he was better than i thought he was going to be.

the punch foolishness was irritating though.

all of that being said, while i support her choice of jokes, i admit i did feel a big pang of sympathy for him when i saw his face after she made it. very sad.

  • Steve

I’m not a fan of Amy’s but she’s clearly in the right here.  The one who seems hypocritical is Steve-O.  She was at a roast to tell jokes.. that’s ok.. she’s a slut but I’m not mad.

    • seriousblk

Nah bro shes hypocritcal in the sense that she had to have Steve-o call off his fans for a joke but at the same time said she would tell it again. Steve-o didn’t have to do shit for her but he did and she is just acting like her Dunn joke didn’t backfire. You watch her segment of the roast you can clearly see 90% of the shit she said got a reaction like “Wow…really that far?”

    • kyle

yeah but she brought up his best friends recent death, and she doesn’t know him personally, that’s not that cool.

  • aaaa

You people are faggots, humorless faggots.

    • kjj;j;;

hey you lil tiny dick bitch the ONLY godamm “humorless faggot” is YOU, you untough wannnabe sissy with absolutely ZERO class or self dignity.
id trace your ip and break your ugly scrawny fuckin face myself FAGGOT, but it probably turns out youre about 11 y/o, gay in the closet, and an angwy baby dicked widdle brat.

      • kjj;j;; Mk 1

Are you real, talking about Class OR Dignity with the Bile that just spewed from your facial rectum (as I’m assuming you need to say the words as you type to keep track). As for IP tracing I think not, with your inability to converse in a decent manner, or use basic grammar, I’m of the opinion that you skipped any form of education altogether. Grow a brain and learn to use it !!!.

      • Sally

If he’s eleven, why would you threaten a child? Lol or even waste your time arguing with a little kid? Adults like you make me sad. But also make me laugh.
        #immatureadults

  • David

I like how Steve-O cracked himself up with his “jokes.” Clearly, he’s hilarious…

  • Buster Brown

Classy and smart response from Schumer, who I expect will continue her pattern of growing success and accomplishment.  The ONLY thing she could have done that would have been better would have been to offer a “no comment,” put that’s me picking at nits.

I don’t love her every joke, but I don’t like ANYONE’s every joke.  This chick is funny, and is well worth the time of anyone who appreciates good stand-up comedy.  Anyone who says otherwise just flat-out doesn’t know shit about stand-up.

That “Steve-O” would include among his limp-dick put-downs that she’s supposedly a “No-name…”  That’s especially rich.  This from the guy infamous and beloved among 13 year old boys for a series of “films” wherein the “stars” find a variety of ways to hit one another in the balls, or dare one another to eat vomit, or other bodily secretions.  Hey, now THAT is having a “name.”  It’s like Snooki ripping on a gold medal-winning Olympic swimmer for not being sufficiently famous.

    • PoopManXXX3000

      Nope, she sucks.

    • Aray

I am a huge fan of stand-up comedy and I own probably over a hundred stand-up specials. Point being, I know some shit about stand-up. This chick is just not that funny. Her whole little act is just that: an act. The best comedians of all time had no act. It was just them being themselves. The problem though is that her act is so far from being persuasive that it makes people just wonder wtf she is trying to do. Also, your whole last paragraph is just plain wrong. A whole generation grew up watching Steve-O’s material. Whether you like or dislike Jackass or his other shows, it is a FACT that he gained success on a MASSIVE level. Sure he made his name by being a hooligan and doing stupid shit (while also making millions of dollars btw) but at least he was smart enough to know that that was his schtick. This chick is not as smart, in that sense, because she will soon find herself out of work as a professional comedian. She is going nowhere. Even if she does find success, which I actually hope she does as I honestly have nothing against her, its an easy bet that she will never have it on the level that Steve-O did.

      • Anti WJB

it’s obvious you are a Steve-0 fan. are you gay, by any chance? you are clearly taking sides.

        • Largefetus

What’s wrong with being gay? Why should Steve-O fans be relegated to being gay (or straight, by that matter)? You’d do your own side of the argument a favor by not being blatantly and awkwardly bigoted.

      • NCBrian

ha – what a load of silliness. i’m a huge fan of stand-up as well. steve o is only a little bit older than me and i never found any of that nonsense particularly funny. despite the stupidity with the punch i actually thought he did an ok job in the Sheen roast – especially considering the level of the other comics. and i also felt a pang of sympathy for him when i saw his reaction to her joke…but you know what – it’s a roast and she was hilarious.

the best comedians of all time had no act? that’s just not true.

      • TeeHee

This Aray person is totally eating shit now. Good job!

      • TCorpses

I agree. Just another cum dumpster who “knows people” or slept her way onto TV only to be forgotten in 2 or 3 years. Where’s the girl from “Strangers With Candy” now? Or “Remote Control”? Exactly. Me either.

        • kyle

What? amy Sedaris is hilarious, shut your mouth. Nobody except for Colbert went anywhere from that show.

          • TCorpses

You fucking idiot. Can you read? This thread is not about Amy Sedaris. WTF is wrong with people these days?

      • kyle

nah dude, the pussy brigade is pushing for her to get her own show. They say that she is a “feminist” even though her entire routine is based on gender stereotype jokes. That would be like saying dave chapelle’s standup is a proponent of black civil rights.

    • Cody

You’re the classiest mother fucker on this thread.

    • jason

U my friend hit the proverbial nail on the head. Kudos

    • kyle

I just saw Amy shumer’s stand up for the first time yesterday. She’s almost funny, except for the fact that she always has these nervous hick ups that totally ruin the moment, and let the audience know that she’s afraid of standing up there.
She also had a joke about third world immigrants running pussy waxing salons, but that joke went nowhere when she started getting all down on white people, it totally killed the mood, and it became an ” aaww let’s feel sorry for non white people, He-He”

  • Mark N

It’s almost too easy to make fun of Steve O. Anyone who’s ever watched him do anything on camera will know he doesn’t have a single working brain cell or shred of dignity left.

It’s a shame anyone is still listening to him or reporting on the stupid misogynist horseshit that tumbles out of his face.

    • TCorpses

A feminist man. What a waste of time.

    • kyle

What makes him misogynist? You can’t just make up facts

      • J

Maybe the fact that he calls her a slut and a whore throughout this interview?

  • cah0991

I can’t imagine losing a friend & having some random, talentless chick poke fun of it while I had to grin & bear it on national television.  If she were funny, it’d be one thing.  She also looked terrible in that dress & should learn to walk in those heels before she attempts to wear them again.  No name, indeed.

    • Juls

      oh Steve, stop trolling!

    • NCBrian

whoops – funny how it turned out pretty good for her. i thought she was hilarious.

    • jason

You are a fucking idiot. A roast is no holds barred, period. You should fist yourself you faggot blogger

  • http://twitter.com/McLovin1019 McLovin

Thanks for posting our interview! Great response from Amy as well!
