UPDATE: April 10, 3:22 pm EST

Celebrity news site Celebuzz unearthed this newly leaked phone call between Chevy Chase and Dan Harmon. Though since Harmon barely talks, the word “conversation” is used loosely. It’s pretty much a rant, wherein Chevy tells Harmon that he’s talented but that in the end the show stinks and they’re misusing Chase. The veteran comedic actor also says he doesn’t want to return for another season. Listen to it now, and catch up on this ongoing saga by reading the original story below the audio.

Over the weekend, a wee scandal erupted around NBC comedy Community– more specifically around its creator Dan Harmon. During his monthly live show Harmontown at the NerdMelt Theater (the back of a comic book shop) in Los Angeles, Harmon decided to play a voice mail message from Community co-star Chevy Chase. You see, Harmon alleges that Chase walked off set while shooting the show’s finale, refusing to do a scene, ultimately breaching his contract (so says Harmon). So, Harmon was a bit peeved with the comedy legend (Dude is Fletch = comedy legend in my book, ok?). So, as you’d expect, Chevy’s message was not a nice one; it included sentiments about how Harmon was a shitty writer and wasn’t funny and…you get the picture.

However, Chase left the message because Harmon pretty much deserved it, having lead a “Fuck You” chant at the show’s wrap party (with Chevy’s family present), which by most reported accounts, left the rest of the cast feeling awkward, to say the least. And now today, despite being told by publicists not to say a word about the situation, Harmon took to his Tumblr to apologize, in part, writing, “I’m explaining that you’re right, I’m a bonehead, and it sucks, it blows up in my face on a regular basis.” He goes on to say the following:

I put an unhealthy amount of stock in the opinions of strangers, that’s exactly what makes me do stupid things, and, poetically, that’s what makes the punishment so effective. Thirty people a day calling me an asshole makes me know and feel, in my heart, that I am an asshole. I’m a real “customer is always right” kind of guy in that regard.

You can read Harmon’s lengthy post here. But, let’s hope that’s the last we hear about this. I just want the show to continue doing well and come back for a fourth season. Right, everyone? Right!
