It’s been a while since we’ve seen the original Blue Collar Comedy guys collaborate on a project. By next year, however, we’ll see Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Engvall and Larry the Cable Guy together again—in all-new animated forms.
That’s right, folks: CMT has given the thumbs-up to Bounty Hunters, a 30-minute weekly series that centers around the trio and their ramshackle bounty hunter business. (If you’re wondering where Ron White is, you should know that he never considered himself an official member of the Blue Collar crew—not because he doesn’t love them, but because he’s got a terrible work ethic. I have no doubt he’ll guest on at least one episode.) Bonus: Lisa Lampanelli will also be a series regular, playing the rough-and-tumble chick who tells them what to do.
“The team will do their best to chase down fugitives, while pleasing the tough-as-nails bondwoman who throws them cases,” reads CMT’s official announcement. “Without fail, the Chief of Police, who wants to shut down their operation and a long list of personal faults, always seem to interfere.”
The series is expected to debut sometime next year and will run for 13 episodes. Foxworthy, Engvall and Larry (real name: Dan Whitney) will serve as executive producers. Bounty Hunters further proves CMT’s desire to increase their original comedy programming. The network also hosts the annual Next Big Comic contest, co-sponsored by Rooftop Comedy, and have regularly aired Blue Collar Comedy specials.
