Further proof that the world of comedy is in a tremendous upswing? Television studios are injecting it into food competition shows! Check it out: Veteran stand-up comedian and actor Ralph Harris is hosting a new cooking show on TV One called My Momma Throws Down, which combines the competitive cooking aspect of Iron Chef with the dynamic of Family Feud. The show premieres May 4 at 8 pm EST.
Harris, you may know, has been seen on the small screen in On Our Own, Seinfeld and In Living Color. He made his jump to feature films with Dreamgirls and Evan Almighty, alongside comedians Steve Carell and Wanda Sykes.
As a mom supporter and all-around mom-fan, I’m excited about this new spin on cooking shows. It reminds me of all the times I’ve been lovingly exiled from my own mother’s kitchen for chopping vegetables too slow, spilling something, or setting off the smoke detector.
