I met Hasan Minhaj in the summer of 2009 where he was performing at the Aspen Rooftop Comedy Festival. And it’s been fun to watch him grow as a comedian and an actor, having seen him snag success on television and on viral videos. But, I think his newest Web video — part of his new series The Truth — is my favorite.
By now, you’ve heard about the Popchips commercial, wherein Ashton Kutcher appears brown faced, portraying a stereotypical Bollywood actor. Suffice it to say, the snack foods company caught a lot of shit for producing and running the ad– and rightfully so. The company pulled the ad and apologized. But Minhaj isn’t done. And that’s a good thing– otherwise we wouldn’t have this video. Check it out.
