Well, it turns out the Study Group will be together for at least one more year. NBC has ordered a fourth season of Community. That’s the good news. The bad news is that the network ordered only 13 new episodes. In the end, though, it’s all good news. Right?
“Dear Community fans, You are the best people in the world. We’re renewed for 13 eps. Couldn’t have done it without you,” Community co-star Joel McHale (Jeff Winger) tweeted about an hour ago. “East coast and central- Celebrate our season four renewal by watching an new episode right now starring [John Hodgman],” tweeted Gillian Jacobs, who plays Britta on Community.
Danny Pudi, who plays Abed, also sounded off, saying, “Thank you fans. Thank you NBC/Sony. Season 4. Holla!” And Yvette Nicole Brown (Shirley) commented on some of the show’s fans’ disappointment with the shorter season. “And one more thing guys, who cares how many eps we got. Just rejoice in the pick-up, PLEASE! It wasn’t guaranteed. It’s a blessing! Thanks,” she tweeted.
As of this writing, NBC has also re-upped 30 Rock for its seventh and final season– also with a 13-episode order. The fate of Parks and Recreation, which rounds out the Thursday night lineup, has not been announced.
