Dan Harmon, Community‘s creator and executive producer, has still not officially signed on to work on the fourth season of the cult favorite. And when NBC’s chairman Bob Greenblatt was asked on Sunday if Harmon would return in that capacity, he said this: “I expect his voice to be part of it.” Add to that today’s news that Adult Swim has greenlighted Harmon’s animated series Rick & Morty, and it’s not looking good.
Co-created with actor, voice artist and producer Justin Roiland, the 30-minute series centers around the relationship between a grandfather and grandson– the former is a brainiac inventor, while the latter is kind of not smart.
It’s not that Harmon couldn’t bounce between the two networks, but it seems like a tall order to expect the man to oversee the daily goings on of two shows (not to mention daily personality battles with Chevy Chase)– one of which just barely made it to another season (and was only given an order for 13 episodes) and another new project, where it’s crucial he spends time establishing proper relationships with cast and crew. Anyway, I’m sure we’ll find out soon enough whether Harmon will return as Community‘s beloved leader.
