Kristen Wiig departs Saturday Night Live: watch the teary goodbye

Although no official announcement had been made prior to last night’s season finale of Saturday Night Live, most show fans knew that Kristen Wiig was leaving the show after an amazingly fruitful seven years. And now, it’s official, seeing as the show ended with a skit, wherein host and musical guest Mick Jagger played a high school principal wishing a special student (Wiig) the very best in the form of a song– “She’s a Rainbow” by the Rolling Stones.

Wiig danced with the cast as well as with executive producer Lorne Michaels. And a lot of familiar faces joined Wiig and co. onstage: Chris Kattan, Amy Poehler, Jon Hamm, Steve Martin, Rachel Dratch and Chris Parnell were all there. On a few occasions, you can see Wiig trying to hold back tears; but they came anyway. Check out the video below.
