Sure, it was sad watching Kristen Wiig say goodbye to Saturday Night Live last weekend. But, here’s the thing: We’ll see her in about six million other things– she’s set to star, write, produce in a gaggle of big screen features– one of which is The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, based on Jame Thurber’s short story, first published in the New Yorker in 1939.
It’s hard to tell if the new version will match up to the original work; the first film adaptation from 1947 — centered on the titular character who spends more time daydreaming about living extraordinary lives than living his own — was far from true to the original story. Regardless, here’s a first look of Wiig on set, playing a New York City police officer!
The film stars Ben Stiller as Mitty (Stiller is also directing) and co-stars a handful of amazing comedy favorites. Check it out: Parks and Recreation‘s Adam Scott, Kathryn Hahn, Patton Oswalt as well as Josh Charles and Shirley MacLaine are all set to appear in the flick. No release date has been announced, but we’ll keep you posted once we hear.
