New service provides comedian videos for birthdays, holidays: but would you pay?

Comedians Adam and Todd Stone, best known for their appearances on the now-defunct NBC series Last Comic Standing, have launched a new idea. It’s called Laughcake.com.

Here’s how it works: the sibling funnymen allow you to hire comedians to create a short video “roast” for a loved one. As of now you can choose from six comedians (I’m counting the Stone brothers as a package, as I’m sure they would too) to share personal details with about your roastee. These comedians include Angry Bob, the political satirist seen on CNN and MSNBC and local New York City comic Doug Smith.

“We all want exposure and we’re all looking to make extra money – particularly doing something comedy-related,” co-founder Todd Stone said. “Above all, Laughcake is meant to make users laugh, but it’s also meant to allow comedians to write jokes, gain exposure, and get paid for it.”

While the videos are seriously no-frills with close to zero production, it’s the content that really counts, right? Maybe? For your money, you get some jokes and a YouTube video that never sours. Isn’t that the best gift you can give?

Right now, you can choose from two options:

• The Laughcake Slam (or Cheer): 45 seconds or more with no edit = $24.99

• The Laughcake Roast (or Toast): 1 minute and 45 seconds or more with edits = $99.00

So, the question is, would you pay for this service? Sound off in the comments section!
