At the end of May, Comedy Central announced the release date — Sept. 25 — for Daniel Tosh’s new animated series, Brickleberry. But there was no word on the cast. And today we learned that veteran voice actor Tom Kenny, known mostly for voicing the incredibly popular character SpongeBob SquarePants has signed on to star, reports Entertainment Weekly.
The show — executive produced by Tosh — was co-created by Waco O’Guin and Roger Black (of the short-lived MTV sketch show Stankervision), is centers around “the antics of a group of dysfunctional park rangers tasked with saving their fledgling national park from closure.”
In addition to Kenny, Tosh and co. have scored a handful of amazing voice actors, including Kaitlin Olson (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia), David Herman (Mad TV and cult comedy favorite Office Space, where he played “Michael Bolton”) and Jerry Minor (Mr. Show, Saturday Night Live, Lucky Louie). Tosh himself will voice Malloy, the adorable bear cub with a crappy attitude.
If you want more of a sneak peak at Brickleberry, Daniel has been showing (very, very) short clips from the series on new episodes of Tosh.0 and promises to continue for the rest of the season. Also, the first season of Tosh.0 will be available on DVD and Blu-ray for the first time on June 12, this coming Tuesday.
