Showtime has recruited Party Down star Lizzy Caplan for Masters of Sex, an upcoming series based on the book by Thomas Maier. Masters of Sex chronicles the lives of William Masters and Virginia Johnson, who became pioneers in the study of human sexuality in the 1960s. The award-winning Maier wrote the well-received book in 2009 and talk of the Showtime series began last month. Caplan is set to play Virginia Johnson alongside co-star Michael Sheen.
Caplan is best known by comedy fans as Casey Klein from the short-lived but beloved Party Down series on on Starz. She has also had roles in Mean Girls, Hot Tub Time Machine, Matt Walsh’s improvised comedy High Road, Freaks and Geeks and Adult Swim favorite Childrens Hospital. She’ll next be seen in the indie flick Save The Date, alongside Community star Alison Brie and fellow Party Down co-star Martin Starr. You can read more about that here.
