I first saw Irish comic David O’Doherty years ago in Montreal, when he performed on Andy Kindler’s popular Alternative Show and have been keeping an interested eye on him ever since. So, naturally I’m super excited to see him score his own half-hour special for Comedy Central. Known for using his tiny electric keyboard to drive some of his jokes, he’s the type of comic who earns an equal amount of gut laughs as well as subtle nods of approval from his audience. O’Doherty kicks off the final week of Comedy Central’s The Half Hour — part of Comedy Central Stand Up — this Friday at 11 pm EST. Let’s peep a preview now!

Comedian Jesse Popp will follow up O’Doherty at 11:30 pm EST with his Half Hour special. Oh, and by the way, he’s got a new album, You Stink, out on Comedy Central Records, which I just finished listening to yesterday. I loved it. Popp, a writer for Conan, mixes his subtly snarky delivery with well-written jokes to outstanding effect. You should surely download You Stink now! Or after you watch this preview from his special. Go!
