Louis C.K. on Dane Cook: ‘I don’t think he stole from me knowingly’

Even though the episode of Louie — wherein Louis C.K. confronts Dane Cook about the real-life controversy over whether Cook stole jokes from C.K. — aired in August of last year, the comedy world is still talking about it. In a new interview with industry news site Deadline, pegged to C.K.’s Emmy submissions, the subject came up again. C.K. explains, like every episode of Louie, the scene was not at all improvised and was written by Louis, himself.

What I wrote for Dane and me on camera represents what each other feels about the situation. The only difference is that he’s not angry about it. Neither of us really care. Dane was generous in allowing me to take him to a place of anger and it was funny the way he did it. I don’t think he stole from me knowingly, which is what I said in the episode. I think he sort of got some of my jokes in his head and got sloppy. He’s a good guy and not capable of maleficence.

You can check out the scene below.

the bit isn’t even original – it’s been referenced throughout literature for centuries… latest pop culture ref the song “a boy named sue” by Johny Cash…get your hand off it CK. The premise is as stale/weak.

      what premise is that?

just saw dane cooks special ‘isolated incident’… the title kinda rings ironic when most fans can see that ‘getting jokes in his head and getting sloppy’ is actually a repetitive theme… in this one he steal chapelles ‘ja rule’ joke
