‘I Love Lucy’ star Doris Singleton dies at 92

We’re sad to report that I Love Lucy actress Doris Singleton has passed away at 92 as a result of cancer and complications thereof. Singleton portrayed Caroline Appleby in the groundbreaking, iconic series that ran on CBS from 1951 to 1957.

The character (oddly changed from Lillian to Caroline), which Singleton described as somewhat of a nemesis to Lucy, appeared in only 10 episodes, but in real life, the actress and Lucille Ball were lifelong friends. Singleton continued to work with Ball on other projects after I Love Lucy, including Here’s Lucy and The Lucy Show. Born in New York City, Singleton (real name: Dorthea) would’ve turned 93 on Sept. 28. You can check out a clip of Singleton’s in action on I Love Lucy below:
