Although Seth Meyers is in the midst of a co-hosting stint with Kelly Ripa on LIVE! With Kelly, he has no plans to replace Regis Philbin on the daily talk show– despite rumors suggesting he’s the frontrunner for the gig. In fact, Meyers told the Sun-Sentinel, “No” five times. Meyers elaborated, “I know [Regis’ replacement] is a very important thing down there. But, right now, what I would say to you: I’m really in love with the job I have. I’m very excited to be going back [to SNL] for the election season, which is always fun.”
Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Sorry, Kelly but, yes! We couldn’t bear to see Meyers watered down full time for daytime TV.
Also, the Hollywood Reporter is cooking up a new rumor. NBC has “left” an opening on its fall season Thursday night lineup. This might mean Saturday Night Live Weekend Update Thursday comedy specials that Meyers hosted in 2008 and 2009 might return. Good for you, Seth!
