Modern Comedian is a new web series by New York-based comic Scott Moran. Each week Scott follows a different comedian around, on-stage and off, to document the life of the — you guessed it — modern comedian.

The debut episode features Kurt Braunohler. Between Kurt’s old riot-based performance art and his hobby of defacing unpurchased books at Barnes & Noble, it turns out Kurt is kind of a badass. He discusses how surprising strangers with absurdity is the best cure for the mundanity of everyday life. He does it via unsolicited book signings and by returning greeting cards to drug store shelves with his own messages in them. Watch the hilarious, nine-minute documentary, titled A Better Place below.

New episodes will be uploaded every Monday for the next 9 weeks on the Modern Comedian Tumblr page.
