In May, we learned that Bridesmaids breakout star Melissa McCarthy was going to star opposite Hollywood A-Lister Sandra Bullock in a buddy cop flick. And as predicted, it’s getting better. Comedian Bill Burr has signed on to play a supporting role in the as-of-yet-untitled film directed by Bridesmaids‘ Paul Feig.
McCarthy and Bullock will play play a Boston cop and an FBI agent, respectively. The conflict comes, naturally, because McCarthy’s character is what you’d consider nontraditional while Bullock’s agent is high strung. Burr will play McCarthy’s brother, who, according to Variety, “is none too pleased to see her after she turns in their brother for selling drugs.”
Katie Dippold — UCB alum and known for her stellar work on NBC’s Parks and Recreation — is writing the screenplay.
