Robin Williams has been cast for two consecutive indie features, to begin production in the coming months. He’s set to play President Dwight Eisenhower in Lee Daniels’ The Butler alongside a star-studded cast that includes Forest Whitaker, Oprah Winfrey, Vanessa Redgrave, Terrence Howard, John Cusack, Alan Rickman, Jane Fonda, and Colman Domingo. The film, which begins shooting later this month, features the true story of Eugene Allen, who served in the White House for eight First Families over three decades.
Variety reports that Williams will follow up The Butler with his role as the title character in The Angriest Man in Brooklyn. He stars alongside Mila Kunis, who plays a stand-in doctor who mistakenly tells an annoying patient (Williams) that he has only 90 minutes to live. He flees the hospital to right all of the wrongs in his life, and she is forced to follow, trying desperately to find him. The film will also star Peter Dinklage, Melissa Leo, and James Earl Jones.
