Here’s some exciting news for Brian Posehn and his fans: the comedian, who has never hid his fanaticism for comic books and other nerdy pursuits, has landed a gig writing for Marvel Comics!

Posehn and fellow comedian Gerry Duggan and artist Tony Moore are the new creative team for Marvel’s Deadpool series (That’s Deadpool to the right). You can pick up the first issue Nov. 12 at the beginning of the Marvel Now initiative, a massive reboot of the legendary comic company’s universe.

While this is Posehn’s first super, high-profile job writing comics, he’s not entirely a rookie. In 2006 Brian, along with Duggan and illustrator Rick Remender, published The Last Christmas, a comic about Santa Clause fighting to save Christmas in a post-apocalypse world.

Congratulations to Brian, Gerry and Tony. We think they’re perfect for the job! We’re just wondering now if Posehn’s good friend and fellow comic book nerd Patton Oswalt will act as an unofficial consultant.

I know he’s popular but I’ve never found Deadpool comics to be as funny as everyone else does. I think with a real comic like Posehn behind it we could actually get some genuinely funny storylines out of it.
