You know H. Jon Benjamin (aka Jon Benjamin); he voices the main characters on two of television’s funniest animated shows– Fox’s Bob’s Burgers and FX’s Archer. And now, Benjamin promises that the two characters, who couldn’t have less in common — Archer being a not-so-smooth playboy spy and Bob Belcher being a sweaty familyman and grill cook — are going to be crossing paths, soon. Bob and his wife will Linda appear in a crossover episode on Archer‘s upcoming season!

“It’s like a Bourne Identity-type plotline,” Benjamin tells Entertainment Weekly. “It starts off with Archer as Bob, making hamburgers, but he doesn’t know that he’s Archer. He’s at the restaurant and these, like, I think Russian thugs come in, and Bob dispatches them expertly. And then he’s like, ‘What just happened? How did I do that?’ So he has to try to figure out why he’s so good at killing people.”

Benjamin says the crossover was Archer creator Adam Reed’s idea and the Bob’s Burgers team promptly signed off on it. We can’t help but wonder: will anyone notice that Archer and Bob have, you know, the exact same voice? We’re sure they’ll figure it out and have fun doing so. In the meantime, check out Benjamin in action, voicing both characters below!

This sounds amazing. I’m so stoked for this episode. I wonder if any of the other voice actors from Bob’s Burgers will be present like Kristen Schall or Eugene Mirman.

Tried to get into B’s B, but couldn’t! Even tried his other show Jon H. Benjamin Has A Van – sorry, he’ll ALWAYS be Archer to me – nothing else will compare – no tweaking necessary on Archer but I am excited to see this new storyline with Bob involved – wonder will it be ongoing or a one time season opener?
