Last week, we let you know that Eddie Murphy was in talks to create a television version of the Beverly Hills Cop franchise. And today, we’re getting word that it’s moved a lot closer to reality. And it seems CBS has first rights.
“The network has given a pilot production commitment to the potential show,” Vulture reports about the series which is being helmed by Sony Television and co-executive produced by Murphy and Shield creator Shawn Ryan. If it sees the light of day, the show will feature Murphy’s character Axel Foley’s son, Aaron, who’ll be working at a Detroit precinct run by good old dad. Murphy would be expected to appear in a few episodes but will not be one of the main stars of the show.
