Ken Marino’s Twitter feed has been, shall we say, entertaining today. A little while ago, the Wet Hot American Summer favorite began describing a fight he had with Nick Kroll, while shooting the new season of The League (Kroll is a cast member). Co-star Paul Scheer even jumped in the discussion and Michael Ian Black chimed in as well, announcing that he was firmly on Ken’s side. Kroll has remained relatively quiet, tweeting, “I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear. -Martin Luther King, Jr. Cc @KenMarino.”
Oh, and there’s the tweets from the official League account, which appeared as Marino’s were winding down:
We’d like to officially condemn @kenmarino‘s violent and unprovoked attack on the much, much weaker @nickkroll.
— The League on FX (@theleaguefx) September 12, 2012
While we acknowledge that @nickkroll is a pussy, we’re contractually obligated to support our lead actors in any physical altercations.

So, the question is, of course: Is this real? Is this just a case of great comedic minds and great friends exploiting Twitter for a laugh? Yes. I don’t believe for a second this actually happened. The last Party Down tweet confirms it (as if The League’s tweets didn’t already, as far as I’m concerned. The new season of The League will begin Oct. 11. A little viral marketing couldn’t hurt, right?
But we’ll play along: Check out Marino’s tweets below and tell us what you think.
I know this is gonna come out soon and just wanted to give my side of the story. Yes I did punch @nickkroll but I had my reasons.
— Ken Marino (@KenMarino) September 12, 2012
Don’t judge me until u hear my side of story. It’s complicated and I, NOT @nickkroll, was more of the victim.
— Ken Marino (@KenMarino) September 12, 2012
For the record, I like @nickkroll. It’s not that. It’s about respecting someone you work with.
— Ken Marino (@KenMarino) September 12, 2012
Of course I’m sorry for it getting physical. But I am NOT sorry for following my heart.
— Ken Marino (@KenMarino) September 12, 2012
I’m not sure if the blood on my hand is @nickkroll‘s or my blood from punching mirror but either way blood is bad. I feel shitty bout this.
— Ken Marino (@KenMarino) September 12, 2012
I’m being asked to leave the set of @theleaguefx. This is total bullshit! I was sort of defending myself! #unfair
— Ken Marino (@KenMarino) September 12, 2012
Question: When is it ok to punch someone? Answer: When they say something you don’t like. #justmyoppinion
— Ken Marino (@KenMarino) September 12, 2012
Cops are here. They will understand my side of the story. #3rdpartylevelheadedness
— Ken Marino (@KenMarino) September 12, 2012
Being told by the LAPD that I should get my shit and get off the set. @nickkroll should man up and say he has a part in this! #manupkroll
— Ken Marino (@KenMarino) September 12, 2012
“@britt4nyr3nee: @kenmarino “oppinion” is spelled “opinion.” just thought you would like to know.” I was texting while running. Sorry.
— Ken Marino (@KenMarino) September 12, 2012
I don’t know how else to say it. I’m sorry @nickkroll. Can I please stay and finish out the episode. #imessedupbig
