Comedian Bill Burr is the latest forward-thinking comedian to take a crack at self-releasing his newest stand-up special. The announcement went down last night on Conan, where Burr explained that a downloadable version of You People Are All The Same will be available for $5 on BillBurr.com starting Oct 1. The direct-to-fan model started with Louis C.K. last December when he made his Emmy-winning Live at the Beacon Theatre available exclusively through his official site. Aziz Ansari, Jim Gaffigan and Ron White (just this week) followed C.K.’s lead.
I cannot recommend You People enough. Having watched it via Netflix’s streaming service, I can safely say his latest hour is his strongest to date. And if you’ve experienced 2008′s Why Do I Do This? and 2010′s Let It Go, you know that means a lot. To celebrate its imminent release, we’re excited to offer you this exclusive look at the special, wherein Burr reveals his parenting strategies. Remember: Burr is not a parent.
I have two young sons and I cannot wait to give them this speech verbatim! Oh, and as he mentioned to Conan O’Brien last night, don’t steal it! It sounds like, based on his chat with O’Brien, the man invested $140,000 in this thing. So lay down your five bucks and know that you’ve made a wise investment in your future.
