In the ever-growing spirit of comedy community DIY ethics, All Things Comedy officially launched today. The brainchild of comedians Al Madrigal and Bill Burr, ATC is a comedy network boasting 11 of the most well-respected comedy podcasts, including Burr’s Monday Morning Podcast, The Long Shot Podcast featuring Eddie Pepitone and Ari Shaffir’s Skeptic Tank. Each of the podcasts, powered by SoundCloud and integrated with social media, can be streamed at AllThingsComedy.com.

Beyond podcast curation, ATC seeks also to promote its participating artists by listing their live events, posting relevant videos and connecting fans to a constantly updated Twitter feed populated by every ATC comedian. To further engage comedians and comedy fans alike, Laughspin.com has signed on to be ATC’s exclusive editorial content provider. To that end, in the “news” section you’ll find real-time updates, including news, interviews, reviews and more– all from from Laughspin.com.

“This is just the beginning,” comedian and Daily Show correspondent Madrigal tells Laughspin, who explains expansion plans include a record label and a possible partnership with YouTube, among other initiatives “We wanted to build a network for comedians that respect each other. And I hope people who want to get involved get in touch with us.” Madrigal points out that everyone who participates in the network still owns their material, maintains complete creative control and will share in future ad revenue.

For his part, Burr is sick of seeing artists giving up ownership of their material in order to get seen by a wider audience. “You see it in any type of art. People create a new scene and then the business people would come in and market and promote it and then the artists would get screwed,” Burr tells Laughspin. “We thought, ‘Wouldn’t it be nice if people created the scene and, like a co-op, actually maintained complete ownership.’”

“How many time have you seen a Behind the Music where you listen to a musician who’s sold millions of records and he says he doesn’t own any of the rights to what he’s created?” Burr adds. To drive the point even further, Burr this morning self-released his new hour special You People Are All The Same via BillBurr.com for $5.

In addition to the aforementioned trio of podcasts, the All Things Comedy Network also currently hosts The Harland Highway with Harland Williams, Walking the Room with Greg Behrendt and Dave Anthony, Jake This with Jake Johannsen, Minivan Men with Madrigal, Maz Jobrani and Chris Spencer, The Flop House with Elliott Kalan, Dan McCoy and Stuart Wellington, Your Mom’s House with husband and wife Tom Segura and Christina Pazsitzky, Deep Shit with Baron Vaughn and last (but certainly not least) The Laughspin Podcast— our very own weekly comedy news broadcast hosted by Laughspin founder and editor Dylan Gadino and Mike Gogel. With 750,000 combined downloads every week, the All Things Comedy network is off to an amazing start.
