You may have noticed last week that many of your favorite comedians helped promote National Voter Registration Day. Now the same organizers from HeadCount, a non-partisan voter registration organization, want you to turn off Here Comes Honey Boo Boo and watch the presidential debates with them. In a partnership with WitStream.com, HeadCount is producing three live viewing parties in New York City on the nights of the debates. These events will include a pre-debate conversation followed by live blow-by-blow commentary from a select group of funny types.
The first of the shows, co-presented by Huffington Post Comedy, is tonight at the 92YTribeca (it’s already sold out), and will be hosted by Lizz Winstead (co-creator of The Daily Show). Also featured on the show, will be MSNBC’s Krystal Ball and Richard Wolffe, Frank Conniff (Mystery Science Theater 3000), and comedian Baratunde Thurston (The Onion). The other viewings during the subsequent debates will be held on Oct. 16 at Stand Up New York and Oct. 22 at Gotham Comedy Club, with lineups to be announced. If you can’t join them in NYC, check out WitStream.com for live commentary. Or at least watch the debates on TV and make a more informed choice on who will lead this country— in between poking fun at each candidates’ rhetoric, of course.
