Comedian and podcasting giant Marc Maron will appear on the next episode of Mortified Sessions, the Sundance Channel’s hit interview series hosted by David Nadelberg.

In his interview, Maron opens up about, among other things, his childhood (“My mother’s goal in life was to maintain a weight…a lot of sacrificing of desserts because of her fear of eating them.”) and why stand-up comedy was an attractive option for a young boy who had to constantly fight for attention at home: “It provided me with the ability to be heard as a person.” The video preview below also teases a discussion about the philosophy of being a class clown. “You can undermine any system of authority…If you can usurp the power structure by stealing focus or by turning something on its head, you’re a threat,” Maron explains.

On the same episode, Community star Gillian Jacobs talks with Nadelberg about growing up with a single mother, her awkward high school years and much more. This episode of Mortified Sessions airs on Monday, Oct. 15 at 10 pm ET on the Sundance Channel.
