Although comedy fans have been trying to get Eddie Murphy back on the stand-up stage for years and frowning all the way, they can’t deny the indelible mark he’s left on the world of comedy. Because of that, Comedy Central honored Murphy with the Icon trophy at last year’s first annual Comedy Awards. And now another Viacom property – Spike TV – will dedicate an entire special to the legendary comedian.
Eddie Murphy: One Night Only will tape on Nov. 3 at the Saban Theatre in Los Angeles and is set to air on Nov. 14 on Spike. Closing with an appearance by the man, himself, the show will feature musical acts, sketches, and short films and will boast appearances by Chris Rock, Tracy Morgan, Samuel L. Jackson, Arsenio Hall, Brett Ratner, Martin Lawrence, Jeffrey Katzenberg and Eddie’s brother, comedian Charlie Murphy.
