The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced today that Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will host the 70th annual Golden Globe Awards, scheduled for Jan. 13 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles. This will be the first Globes show not hosted by Ricky Gervais, who hosted the last three years. Before Gervais, the Globes simply went without a host.
Fey and Poehler, who worked on Saturday Night Live together, are real-life, longtime friends. The duo will prove that as well as their stellar onscreen chemistry once again when viewers tune in to Comedy Central’s Night of Too Many Stars benefit for Autism. During the show, the duo auctioned off themselves for $72,000 as “best friends for the night” to two very grateful women. Filmed on Saturday at the Beacon Theatre in New York, the special will air this Sunday at 8 pm ET.
“The unparalleled comedic timing of Tina and Amy will surely have viewers wanting to tune-in to see them in action,” said HFPA president Dr. Aida Takla-O’Reilly. “[We're] thrilled to have the magnetic duo be a part of the show’s 70th anniversary!”
