Oh, hey. It’s Dylan. I’m at the official Comedy Central Election Night party in New York City. Times Square to be exact. The Edison Ballroom to be super exact. I’ve got to say, this is some pretty swanky shit. There’s fancy finger food all around, spinning star lights, monitors up the wazoo and some of your favorite comedians milling about: So far, I’ve spotted Todd Barry (he’s very pleased with the setup here), Christian Finnegan and David Wain. And Laughspin scribe Billy Procida is here as well. His job: Looking pretty. We’ll be watching The Daily Show and The Colbert Report when they broadcast the election results live at 11 and 11:30 pm ET. And hopefully we’ll snag a few words with the aforementioned comedians and more! Stay tuned…
I just had a LOVELY chat with David Wain, you guys. Bonus: I met is LOVELY wife Zandy. We chatted a bit about his new flick They Came Together (Paul Rudd, Amy Poehler) and the status of the Wet Hot American Summer sequel.
In short, he and Michael Showalter are working on it, but it takes time! And also, didn’t you just read what I wrote about They Came Together? Also, Childrens Hospital! Duh. I should have the audio of our chat on the site tomorrow or not tomorrow.
9:37 pm ET
I never thought upon entering this swanky soiree that I would’ve ended up in a minutes long conversation with Todd Barry about colonoscopies.
But that just went down. Turns out Todd isn’t drinking tonight because he’s got a bit of the sweet, sweet sleepy juice still inside of him. I know the feeling. Personal moment: I have something called Crohn’s disease and I need to get anally probed at least once every two years! Hear all about that and Todd’s experience
tomorrow at some point, when I post the full audio. Hooray?
10:42 pm ET
Ever since their time on MADtv, I’ve been a huge fan of Jordan Peele and Keegan-Michael Key, so it was amazing to finally meet the two of them just now. You know them, of course, as Comedy Central’s Key and Peele. We chatted about their expectations for the election — Jordan is especially passionate about the role Obama will play if re-elected — the catharsis Keegan-Michael enjoys when he portrays Barack Obama’s anger translator and much more. Like the other interviews, I’ll be sure to post the audio. Super nice guys. Super cool. Very exciting.
11:02 pm ET
The Daily Show has gone live and The Colbert Report will follow, so I’ll be moving my amazingly brilliant words over to Twitter… Thanks for following along!
