Though it was filmed Dec. 2, the 35th Annual Kennedy Center Honors, wherein David Letterman was recognized for his accomplishments in comedy and television, just aired last night on CBS. The Late Show host was honored alongside iconic blues musician Buddy Guy, Dustin Hoffman, Led Zeppelin and ballerina Natalia Makarova, who would become the butt of one of Jimmy Kimmel’s jokes that night.
Below we’ve posted a trio of videos we thought you’d enjoy. The first finds Tina Fey narrating a video about Dave’s “revolutionary ride.” In the second, Alec Baldwin describes Late Show as dangerous, exhilarating and scary while Jimmy Kimmel almost tears up talking about his lifelong hero: “I loved Johnny [Carson],” he says, “but I fell in love with David Letterman.” And Ray Romano – who tells the crowd the story about Letterman fostering the development of Everybody Loves Raymond – closes out the tribute, and is eventually joined onstage by Fey, Kimmel and Baldwin.
