As if he wasn’t busy enough with the current season of Saturday Night Live and the third season of Portlandia (premiering tomorrow!), Fred Armisen has added another project to his schedule– the animated IFC series Out There.
Megan Mullally, John DiMaggio (Futurama), Kate Micucci (of musical comedy duo Garfunkel and Oates), Pamela Adlon (who played Louis C.K.’s wife on Lucky Louie and has appeared on Louie), Linda Cardellini (ER, Scooby-Doo) and Justin Roiland (Adventure Time) will round out the cast. And South Park producer and Out There creator Ryan Quincy will voice 15-year-old Chad Stevens, the main character.
“Out There chronicles the coming-of-age misadventures of socially awkward Chad, his little brother Jay (Micucci) and his best friend, Chris (Roiland),” according to the folks at IFC. “Living in the small town of Holford, the boys wander its surreal, bleak landscape waiting out their last few years of adolescence. Along the way, viewers meet Chad’s conservative parents, Wayne (DiMaggio) and Rose (Mullally), as well as Chris’s single mother, Joanie (Adlon) and her disastrous boyfriend, Terry (Armisen). They also meet the object of Chad’s affection, Sharla (Cardellini).”
The first episode “The Great Escape,” will officially premiere on Feb. 22 at 10:30 pm ET on IFC. However, there will be a sneak preview Friday, Jan. 11 at 10:30 pm ET on IFC. Get a 15-second taste below!
