While NBC announced today the series finale of The Office will air on May 16 from 9 to 10 pm ET, we also learned that fan favorite Ellie Kemper, who plays Dunder Mifflin’s lovable and naïve Erin Hannon, landed herself a leading role on one of the network’s upcoming comedy pilots.
Kemper will play Brenda Miller, the title character in Brenda Forever, “a comedy centered on stories from Brenda Miller’s past and present, which are interwoven to give a unique portrait of how a chubby, awkward, but incredibly confident 13-year-old grew up to be a 31-year-old woman who still marches to the beat of her own drum,” according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Kemper first appeared on season five of The Office in 2009 to replace Jenna Fischer’s character, then-receptionist Pam for a few episodes. Kemper became a series regular at the start of season six.
