There will be a wedding in the new Muppets movie, plus other things we know about the sequel

Thanks to the loose lips of production designer Eve Stewart, we now know the new Muppets movie will feature a wedding for Miss Piggy. Now, that doesn’t necessarily mean she gets married, mind you. Maybe she flees the altar like Diane did in Italy during her wedding to Frasier (Cheers, anyone?) or maybe Miss Piggy is kidnapped, beaten and then executed by Russian Gulag prison guards, since, apparently there are fucking Russian Gulag prison guards in this movie. We also don’t know who Miss Piggy is marrying. I know, you’re thinking Kermit, the logical choice. But maybe the producers will try to make a social statement and have her marry Janice, the guitar-wielding Muppet that looks like Donatella Versace (on a good day…amiright?).

Anyway, Stewart revealed the wedding info on an episode of the BBC’s The Film Programme, on which she said, “It has been one of the best days of my life, designing Miss Piggy’s wedding at the Tower of London,” reports Slashfilm.

So, what else do we know about the sequel, titled The Muppets…Again! (we know the title!!!). And we know it’s filming in London. We also know that Ricky Gervais is playing the sidekick to a character named Constantine (the villain of the flick). Gervais tweeted the the photo below.

We know that Tina Fey will play one of the aforementioned Russian Gulag prison guards, though, I’m fairly certain that despite reports confirming the whole “Gulag” thing, these prison guards cannot literally be Gulag guards since there’s nothing funny about Stalin-era work camps, wherein poor people were worked to death. We also know that Ty Burrell will play Jean Pierre Napoleon and that Ray Liotta is also set to star and that the flick is set to premiere March 14, 2014. Oh and here’s another still from the set.

We’ll be sure to keep you posted on all things Muppets as we get new info. You’re welcome.

I love how the muppets continue to inspire us as we grow into adulthood, and as society – hopefully – overcomes the final hurdles in marriage equality! http://youtu.be/AQh5G8mOiSA
