If you pay close attention to this site or listen somewhat regularly to the Laughspin Podcast, you may know that I’m a huge fan of Kickstarter– as long as it’s not being abused by those who don’t need it (I’m looking at you, David Fincher, Whoopi Goldberg, Charlie Kaufman and John Kricfalusi).

And currently, I can’t think of a better Kickstarter campaign to which comedy lovers should lend their support than Funny Business, photographer Seth Olenick’s hardcover coffee table book crammed with vibrant photos of your favorite comedians shot over the past six years. As of this writing, there’s 18 days (and a few hours) left for Olenick to collect the $30,000 he’s looking for to produce 1,500 copies of the book. He’s off to a good start with more than half of the goal realized, but there’s a way to go.

Check out Olenik’s simple and sincere pitch video below, wherein he explains how he began shooting comedians like Zach Galifianakis, Aziz Ansari, Marc Maron, “Weird” Al Yankovic and many more– 217 total!

The book will run about 250 pages and will contain 200 full-color photos on glossy paper. And get this: 200 of these things will come with a hand-printed special edition slipcase; you’ll have to donate $225 to score that. The slipcase is just one of many gifts donors will receive. If you don’t have a a lot of cash to throw around, allow me to suggest the $25 donation, which gets you a companion audio book narrated by comedian/Renaissance man Dave Hill!

If you need more convincing and/or want to check out what other treats Olenick has in store, you should get to the official Kickstarter page now. Check out some of Olenick’s photos below, which he was nice enough to share with us: David Wain, Zach Galifianakis, Elizabeth Banks and Jenny Slate/Gabe Liedman.
