Never afraid to grow his brand, Snoop Lion (formerly Snoop Dogg) has launched his own comedy Web series titled, Dime of the Month, which aims to satirize popular reality competition series like America’s Next Top Model or newcomer The Face. While Snoop appears in the intro and outro of each episode, the real stars of this show are the trio of ladies competing for the coveted title of Dime of the Month. A “dime,” if you didn’t know, is a Perfect 10.
Each contestant has to answer a few questions and eventually walk around in a skimpy bathing suit. On the premiere episode contestants Donna, Felicia and Laura also have to prove their prowess with a Shake Weight (hooray for jokes from 2009!). In the end, guest judges Bishop Don Magic Juan (a former pimp and hip-hop personality), rapper Lil Debbie and television host Hits From the Streets have to make a difficult decision to choose just one
desperate lovely lady.
The show’s entertaining enough, except it sounds like it’s been filmed in a tunnel and the white screen behind the action seems lazy. Also, it’s like someone said, “We’d REALLY like to have a show where we get chicks mostly naked and judge them but people might get pissed, so if we make it a parody, it’s cool.” Except, the host of the show Rebecca Prince seems to be the only one in on the comedy, as she routinely cracks jokes throughout. The others — contestants and judges, alike — seem pretty serious about it all.
